Initial Conversation and Training
Listen to the following conversation between Anne Turner and the emplayado.
Anne: Helo! Ito ba ang Sampagita Plumbing?
Hello! Is this (the) Sampaguita Plumbing?
Empleyado: Ito nga po. Ano po ba ang maipaglilingkod ko sa inyo?
It is, ma’am. What can I do for you?
Anne: Magpapunta kayo ng tubero agad sa bahay namin.
Send a plumber to our house right away.
Empleyado: Ano po ba ang nangyari?
What happened ma’am?
Anne: Nagbara ang aming kasilyas.
Our toilet is clogged.
Empleyado: Okupado pa ang aming mga tubero. Ibigay ninyo ang inyong tirahan at bilang
ng telepono.
Our plumbers are busy now. Give [me] your address and telephone number.

Now, let’s practice speaking.
Anne needs a plumber, so she calls the Sampagita Plumbing. She says,

The person who receives the call replies that it is and then ask how he can help. He says,

“maipaglilingkod” literally means “to be able to serve, or help”. In this case we translate it as “do”.

Exercise 7. In the conversation Anne informs the clerk that they are on the second floor.
“pangalawa” means “second”
Repeat some more ordinal numbers. Notice that you use the prefix “pang” except for “una” (first).
Notice too that “pang” changes to “pam” in front of ‘b’ or ‘p’ or “pan” in front of d, l, r, s, t.
